Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in regard to highlight the outstanding points and shortcomings that English as a universal language has. Some people, particularly those who have English as their native language, say that they would find it useless to learn another language. There are, however, others who think that acquire the knowledge of other languages is quite beneficial.
First of all, it is undeniable that English is an international language which can be used in all the countries to communicate. Another benefit is that as you to speak English, you have the ability to make business with foreign country, so you have facilities to get a great job. Moreover, we have to take into consideration that English is an easy language to learn compared to Chinese, Spanish or French.
However, there is one problem that should be overcome. There has been a quick globalization of English which its sweeping away lots of languages and cultures which have exist for many years. The disaster that this could cause is enormous, because a world with the same habits and the same idiom would mean a world of monotony, without differences between borders.
To conclude this letter I would like to say that I feel fortunate to have English as my official language as I can travel around the world and communicate with everyone without having to learn a new tongue.
I hope you will find this information of use.
Yours faithfully,
Patricia Arbó
